Transcend Tomorrow: FAU the Campaign Launch

Deepak Berwal and Tessa Harland from Pilitsis Lab gave a demonstration on wearable EEG setups and the functional application of electrophysiological recordings in deep brain stimulation (DBS) treatment for Parkinson’s disease. This demonstration supports the FAU Health collaborative—a multidisciplinary initiative that brings together the University’s health, research, and social science programs to create a dynamic and formidable force addressing tomorrow’s challenges today.

Manuscript Selected to be Highlighted Under CNS Spotlight!
Sep 01, 2022Our manuscript entitled “High-Resolution Spinal Motor Mapping Using Thoracic Spinal Cord Stimulation in Patients with Chronic Pain” has been selected as a Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Spotlight. This study is the first to utilize a newly FDA-approved high-resolution spinal cord stimulation electrode to perform medio-lateral spinal motor mapping in patients with chronic pain.

New Paper is Published in Neurosurgery
May 01, 2022Our study, led by Julie G. Pilitsis, M.D., Ph.D., Dean and Vice President of Medical Affairs at Florida Atlantic University’s Schmidt College of Medicine, has been published in the journal Neurosurgery. For the first time, we demonstrated that machine-learning algorithms can predict long-term patient response to spinal cord stimulation placement with relatively high accuracy, marking an important advancement in personalized pain management.
