Deepak Berwal and Tessa Harland from Pilitsis Lab gave a demonstration on wearable EEG setups and functional use of the electrophysical recordings in deep brain stimulation (DBS) treatment in Parkinson’s disease to support the FAU Health- collaborative endeavor brings together several of the University’s health, research and social science programs to create a dynamic and formidable force to solve tomorrow’s challenges today.

Manuscript selected to be highlighted under CNS Spotlight!
Sep 01, 2022Our manuscript entitled “High-Resolution Spinal Motor Mapping Using Thoracic Spinal Cord Stimulation in Patients with Chronic Pain” is selected as the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) Spotlight. Our study is the first to use a high-resolution spinal cord stimulation electrode, which is newly FDA approved, and perform medio-lateral spinal motor mapping in patients with chronic pain.

Completing year-long JFDP curriculum

JFDP is designed to enhance the academic and professional development of young faculty members into assistant professors in clinical and basic science departments through an intensive, year-long curriculum focused on research, teaching and leadership.

New paper is published in Neurosurgery
May 01, 2022Our study led by Julie G. Pilitsis, M.D., Ph.D., dean and vice president of medical affairs at Florida Atlantic University’s Schmidt College of Medicine, is published in the journal Neurosurgery. We demonstrated for the first time, the ability of machine-learning algorithms to predict long-term patient response to spinal cord stimulation placement with relatively high performance.
